Target-Oriented Intent: The "Pressing Rewind" Process
Being target-oriented is the most vital aspect of properly hitting a golf shot—it is more important than the grip, the posture, or even the swing itself.
The Three-Step Visualization Process:
Total Visualization: You must first visualize the ball flight or roll in its entirety, from start to finish.
Defining the Start Line: Because wind and undulations affect the ball, we often aim away from the eventual target to choose a precise start line.
Pressing Rewind: This is the key to elite alignment. While you visualize the shot from start to finish, you locate your intermediate target—a divot, a shadow, or a pine needle just in front of the ball—by seeing the ball come back to you in reverse. I call this “pressing rewind”.
